Core i7 is Intel’s latest and most advanced processor series in the market.. Core i7 was released just 2 years after core 2 duo, which didn’t give the product much time to bask in its glory. Core i7 has been built using 45nm processor technology and it offers multi core processing and also an integrated memory controller which according to most computer wizards was long overdue. The core i7 920 costs just above $280, which in my opinion is worth it because of the features this particular model is offering.
This processor series is already a huge hit with most gamers as it supports both ATI’s crossfire and Nvidia’s SLI, yes it can handle dual GPU setup, which is unique to this processor series. This means humans can enter a whole new level of gaming using this product.
The processors have four processor cores and a triple channel DDR3 memory controller. The core i7 has a clock speed of about 2.9GHz. It also contains an x58 chipset.
The first series under the core i7 brand is code named as “Bloomfield”. A mobile version of “Bloomfield” is due to be released in 2009. The recommended operating system is Windows Vista 64 bit, this means in the future many people, especially gamers, will abandon Windows XP and will move to Windows Vista.
The core i7 920 gives a healthy 8% increase in CPU performance, after tests it was found that Intel Core 2 Duo is 40% slower than the core i7 920 processor. The core i7 is a pioneering piece of technology that has set the standard for almost all the processor manufactures to reach. This job will be a tough one. I believe the core i7 series and especially the core i7 920 is here to stay on the top for a long time.
